From FARO (Lake Mary, FL) comes a new version of its FARO Scene Software, FARO Scene 4.5, designed to improve productivity, mobility and ease of use for those requiring portable coordinate measuring systems (CMMs).

The FARO Scene Software family includes the following products: FARO Scout, FARO Scout LT and FARO Record. New features of FARO Scene 4.5 include:

  • Cluster Registration: Cluster registration makes it possible for scans to be combined into clusters and aligned relative to each other. External/global targets are no longer required.
  • Slab Object: A slab object is a wall, defined by its thickness and its side of view of (or in?) the scan. Users can use slab objects as registration objects thereby simplifying and the registration of scans in buildings.
  • Registration with pipes and multiple planes: Pipes and (more than one) plane object can now be used to register scans.
  • Checkerboard paper targets: The new version of FARO Scene supports checkerboard targets as references for registration. The survey point lies in the center point of the four quadrants with checkerboard references.
  • New and improved 3D visualization
  • Better color performance
