UGS Corp. (Plano, TX) has released Version 9.3 of its Femap pre- andpost-processor and FEA (finite element analysis) component of the UGSVelocity Series portfolio. Femap 9.3, says UGS, provides a significantincrease in support of Nastran functionality as well as expanded userinterface extensions and enhancements to modeling capabilities.

Femap 9.3 offers new methods of applying loads through data surfacesand bolt preload modeling. It supports a new dynamic design analysismethod (DDAM) for shock spectrum analysis. It provides increasedsupport for dynamics analysis, in particular complex modes and rotordynamics, as well as substructuring using superelements, new linearcontact options, and fluid modeling using the virtual mass fluidmodeling.
