IPFL, a UK-based service bureau, has purchased a Boston Micro Fabrication (BMF) microArch S240 3D printer, enabling the company to provide BMF micro-precision 3D printed parts. BMF's partnership with IPFL will position BMF to provide local print services support to serve demand for micro parts in the UK.
With the ability to reach resolutions as low as 2 microns, industries such as medical, electronics, microfluidics will be benefited by being able to print stents to prosthetics to surgical planning, electrical components, connectors and tools like lab-on-chip and other devices. Overcoming the challenges faced in traditional manufacturing techniques making micro 3D printing more viable.
IPFL was founded in 1969 to create bespoke prototypes for industrial, defense and commercial applications to support researchers, engineers and manufacturers in detailed micro manufacturing. Based in Essex and Hertfordshire, just north of London, IPFL have provided clients with precision plastics parts for over 50 years.
“We are excited to have IPFL join our growing list of customers in the UK. With over 50 years experience in the micro manufacturing industry, they will be key to help support BMF’s mission of enabling miniaturization in the UK and beyond. With a growing number of customers in the UK demanding high-resolution micro parts with tight tolerances, IPFL is positioned as a very experienced resource to fulfill demand for our parts,” says John Kawola, CEO of BMF.
“Clients at IPFL expect the best quality and rely on our hands-on team for precision parts. The BMF system opened up an opportunity to supply these requirements on much smaller, and more intricate parts. The microArch printer is incredibly complementary to the services already provided at IPFL,” says Adam Bloomfield, 3D Printing operations manager, IPFL.
