The HPC-AI Advisory Council (HPCAIAC), a community-benefit organization promoting HPC and AI education, along with ISC Group, the organizers of Europe’s high-performance computing forum, are announcing the call for team entries for the 2019 ISC-HPCAIAC Student Cluster Competition (SCC). Teams of up to six students, currently enrolled in four-year higher education and undergraduate-degree programs, can submit proposals for the 2019 competition through Nov. 9, 2018. The organizers will announce the team selections on Nov. 15, 2018.

A total of 12 teams will be competing at ISC 2019, June 17-19, 2019 during the 34th annual ISC High Performance conference and exhibition. The main conference will be held from June 16-20.

In its eighth year, the three-day international competition draws teams from across the world. To take top honors, teams must demonstrate a system of their own design, adhere to strict power constraints and achieve the highest performance across a series of standard benchmarks and applications.

“Supporting student development in this highly challenging field is extremely beneficial,” says Gilad Shainer, chairman of the HPC-AI Advisory Council. “Students come away from competitions steeped in experience gained from deploying tools and technologies they’ve developed to launch, troubleshoot and run live applications, to solve complex problems and achieve very real-world results.”

“ISC provides students an opportunity to immerse themselves in their chosen field,” says Martin Meuer, co-general chairman of ISC High Performance. “Students benefit from networking with industry leaders and augmenting their studies with full access to the technical programs. We welcome the 2019 teams and wish all of the entries good luck.”

Detailed information about the competition, sponsorships, team entries and requirements is available on the 2019 Student Cluster Competition pages.
