Siemens PLM Software has released the latest version of its LMS Imagine.Lab software,  a platform for mechatronic system simulation and collaborative design. According to the company, LMS Imagine.Lab Rev13 delivers a variety of new features and enhancements aimed at increasing platform openness and system integration efficiency while strengthening collaboration.

“We are proud of LMS Imagine.Lab Rev13 with its focus on openness and systems integration. Once again this release is reinforcing the LMS Imagine.Lab value for collaborative systems engineering,” said Nicolas Orand, LMS Imagine.Lab Solutions Director. “Like every new LMS Imagine.Lab release, we are pleased to provide multiple modeling capabilities and methods for thermal fluid, electrical, internal combustion engine, transmission, mechanical 3D and many other areas. These improvements expand the application possibilities for all types of industries while focusing on the automotive, ground vehicle,  aeronautics and mechanical industries.”

LMS Imagine.Lab AMESim includes additional Modelica support, and couples causal and acausal modeling into a single model. LMS AMESim can now be used as a Functional Mockup Interface (FMI) master simulation platform. In addition, Rev13 has increased its simulation capabilities with the Statechart Designer tool for scenario definition and logical controls modeling. New system analysis tools include Power/Energy analysis for improved eco-design with easy variant comparison and system optimization.

LMS Imagine.Lab SysDM, the model and data management tool, now offers users a smart import process for S-function and Functional Mockup Unit (FMU) libraries. It can handle more behavioral model types for direct reuse in a configured architecture in LMS Imagine.Lab System Synthesis.

Moreover, LMS System Synthesis has strengthened its tool-agnostic capabilities thanks to its compliancy with the FMI standard and SysML architecture imports, as well as interoperability with the CosiMate co-simulation framework, the company says. LMS System Synthesis now integrates heterogeneous models and seamless multi-level configuration.

The new release comes with a 3D Mechanical library to allow users to easily model Multi-Body Systems (MBS) and the related actuators,  considering system dynamics and performance during early design stages. Rev13 also extends thermal fluid system modeling capabilities with the Media Property Assistant that lets users seamlessly generate thermal and thermal-hydraulics media properties.

With new aircraft fuel system models and demonstrators, Rev13 improves usability so engineers can define the complete fuel system and design fuel management strategies during the early development stages. In addition, Rev13 provides numerous enhancements for early-stage power distribution network assessment and integration. Demo files depicting the electromechanical actuator design process let engineers check requirement consistency early to streamline the actuator development cycle, the company says.
