Logopress and its North American distributor and technical center, Accurate Die Design, have released a new add-on to their SolidWorks-based Logopress3 software called Progressive Blank Companion.

This new add-on allows metal stamping die designers to model the 3D complex-shaped intermediate stages of a progressively formed part in minutes instead of hours or days. The software works equally well whether the user is designing progressive dies, transfer dies, line dies, or only using it to create the tooling for making prototypes. According to the companies, Progressive Blank Companion is the result of several years of research and development.

The software includes tools for constraining specific edges, faces, or pilot holes, and also allows the designer to lock the material in a specific direction. It includes a materials database with common material types included and the user can also add other materials to the database. Besides simplifying and speeding up the modeling of intermediate stages, the solutoin also provides localized information about thinning and thickening as well as measuring stress and strain.
