Meadows Publishing Solutions (Schaumburg, IL) released DesignMerge Pro for Adobe InDesign CS3 (San Jose, CA), supporting both Apple and Windows-based platforms. DesignMerge Pro will provide Adobe InDesign users with variable data printing and data publishing (VDP) features.

The modules work within the application, enabling professional mail-merge, variable data printing, and document assembly features. The entire process is database-driven, flexible, and easy to use, states the release.

The DesignMerge Pro Bundle is a suite of software that provides mail-merge, variable data printing, and data publishing features. The product is menu-driven, and works with any InDesign or QuarkXPress document, allowing the user to create pre-defined placeholders, which are designated to receive variable data.

DesignMerge can import text, picture, or article information from practically any data source, and merge that information into QuarkXPress or InDesign layouts to produce unique, personalized output. DesignMerge can output to any PostScript printer and includes built-in image caching for incredibly fast output. In addition, we provide a number of optional print driver modules for high-end digital presses.

The Pro Bundle also includes the company’s CopyFit software, which provides advanced on-the-fly copy-fitting capability; GroupPicture software, which provides support for fully-variable layout elements; and the Rules Module, which can be used to construct sophisticated conditional logic (if/then/else) statements.

All of the features of Adobe InDesign are available when using DesignMerge software. DesignMerge also supports the most popular VDP output formats including PostScript and PPML, and is fully compatible with systems offered by Canon, Xerox, HP, EFI, and Konica-Minolta, among others.
