Mentor Graphics has released the newest version of FloTHERM XT, an integrated mechanical design automation (MDA) and electronic design automation (EDA) electronics cooling solution. The platform has CAD-centric technology and a mesher for complex geometries.

This version now offers support for transient analysis, Joule heating, parametric studies, extended EDA integration capabilities and new modeling options. Users can now represent copper in detail for PCBs (printed circuit boards). Additional features include:

  • Component and board manipulation
  • EDA tool connectivity with a new ODB++ interface that supports Cadence, Zuken and Altium.
  • Enhanced user interface
  • New modeling options for PCB copper nets and traces
For parametric studies, FloTHERM XT has an integrated environment for defining solving, and analyzing results for variations of geometry, attributes plus solution parameters.

“We continually strive to make our advanced technologies easier to use, yet more powerful, for our customers – and our new FloTHERM XT product continues to deliver on this promise,” said Roland Feldhinkel, general manager of Mentor Graphics' Mechanical Analysis Division. “This version enables optimum productivity for today’s engineers by providing the needed power, performance and advanced capabilities including EDA support to handle the most complex geometries inside an easy-to-use environment.”
