Molex LLC, a provider of interconnect solutions, has expanded its printed electronics portfolio with the acquisition of Soligie Inc. The company's solutions provide an alternative to rigid printed circuit boards (PCBs) or copper flex circuits in sensor applications.

Soligie sensors, according to a company press release, are ideal for measuring temperature, shock and humidity, physiological monitoring, environmental and biochemical sensors. The company's manufacturing process yields small, flexible all-in-one sensor solutions that can integrate batteries, RFID, LEDs and other passive devices.

Molex has manufacturing capabilities for electronic device bonding and will provide services for Soligie products.

“Smart sensor products demand smart manufacturing methods.  As electronic packaging continues to shrink in size, while ramping up in sophistication, customers need highly functional and cost-effective circuitry,” says Todd Hester, vice president and general manager for Molex Printed Circuit Products.  “We provide early stage Soligie technology development with a clear path to high-volume manufacturing. Our customers can now see their unique product innovations manufactured faster than ever before."
