MSC.Software and IBM Form Strategic Alliance

Companies to jointly market services and products for enterprise simulation and PLM.

MSC Software Corp. (Santa Ana, CA) and IBM (Armonk, NY) today jointlyannounced a worldwide strategic alliance at an early morning pressconference held at MSC's annual VPD conference in Huntington Beach,California. DE attended by teleconference. At the same pressconference, MSC.Software announced SimManager Enterprise, a solutionthat enables organizations to leverage their engineering processesthroughout their disbursed enterprise. MSC will embed and optimize IBM technology as part of its SimManagerEnterprise offering, integrating services oriented architecture (SOA)with DB2, Websphere, and Tivoli middleware for enterprise-based CAE andanalysis in the PLM space. The combined SOA will also allow users totake advantage of deploying an on-demand enterprise built from reusablecomponents that help curb development costs and improve time to market.On a related note, IBM selected MSC's MD Nastran as a simulationcomponent for its On Demand Business initiative.

IBM Global Services will develop what it calls "Centers of Competence"that will help deliver CAE enterprise solutions to clients inassociation with SimManager Enterprise implementations. IBM GlobalServices will also resell and implement SimManager Enterprise, and bothcompanies will undertake joint sales and marketing activities topromote the alliance's offering.
