NAFEMS -- the international association for the engineering modelling, analysis, and simulation -- is gearing up for its annual conference for the Americas, scheduled for June 7-9 (Lynnwood, Washington).

Among this year's keynote presenters are Joe Walsh, founder of intrinSIM, and Bradley Holtz, CEO of Cyon Research. The two plan to discuss the ASSESS initiative, which stands for Analysis, Simulation and Systems Engineering Strategies. According to the abstract, "The initiative was formed to address the changing role of simulation.  ASSESS is a broad reaching multi-industry initiative that began with the goal to expand the use and benefit of software tools for model-based analysis, simulation, and systems engineering. This presentation will review the issues behind the ASSESS Initiative and provide an update on the ASSESS activities including feedback from the ASSESS 2016 Congress held in January in Potomac, MD."

Also among the presenters are:

  • Dr. Marc Halpern, Gartner's VP of research, who anticipates major shifts in the computer-aided engineering (CAE) market and engineers’ priorities;
  • Dr. Dawn Bardot, VP, technology innovation, Medical Device Innovation Consortium, who will make the case for regulatory grade computer modeling and simulation;
  • Dr. Steve Scott, Senior VP and CTO of Cray, who will sum up the leading HPC trends and their impact on simulation.
DE is one of the media partners of the event; DE editors will be present to cover news from the show.
