CAE software developer Noran Engineering, Inc. (NEi; Westminster, CA) has announced that its NEiNastran V8.3 has been portedto the Intel Itanium 2 and the AMD Opteron 64-bit processors running the RedHat Linux operating system. These processors provide users a migrationpathway from 32-bit to 64-bit computing. According to the company, users can expect at least a 2x performance increase in speed whileperforming linear and nonlinear solutions.
NEiNastran is part of NEi’s complete suite of analysis software, which, among its offerings are linear and nonlinear statics, dynamics, heattransfer, fluid flow, and fatigue, and optimization solutions. NEi’sCAE solutions handle complex structural, dynamics, and heat transferanalysis problems on platforms ranging from laptops to desktop PCs toheavy-duty engineering workstations.
Over the next few months NEi plans to deliver NEiNastran for numerous32- and 64-bit platforms and operating systems, including SGI IRIX,AIX, 64-bit Windows XP, and PowerPC MAC OS X.
