3D Systems Corp. introduced Accura Xtreme Plastic, a new material for use in its stereolithography rapid prototyping systems. The material is now available to qualified customers for beta testing. Accura Xtreme Plastic is designed for functional assemblies that need to be durable. Its mechanical properties, including high elongation and moderate modulus, closely match those of molded ABS and polypropylene. 3D Systems says it features lower viscosity and higher processing speed than other prototyping materials, which results in fast part creation and quick cleaning and finishing.
“With Accura Xtreme Plastic, we have created a strong, yet flexible material that resists breakage and produces a high quality part,” said Abe Reichental, 3D Systems’ president and chief executive officer.
