Tormach LLC (Waunakee, WI; tormach.com), developer of personal CNC machines for single craftsmen and small to medium-sized businesses, announced the release of M3, its newest CNC machine control software. When coupled with the company’s mid-size, low-cost PCNC 1100 CNC mill, M3 enables precise computerized cutting.
With the addition of M3, every machine the company ships now includes a fully integrated suite of CAM, CAD, and control software. Specifically, purchasers of Tormach CNC machines receive access to 3D MCAD through Alibre Design Xpress and a starter edition of SheetCAM. CNC Machine Control is provided to convert CAM-produced g-code instructions as machine movements. The M3 modifications allow the program to work directly with SheetCAD, TurboCADCAM, and SprutCAM.
Other features include a feed and speed calculator, preprogrammed M-codes for tapping head, improved toolpath displays, a maintenance hour log, extended conversational programs, and new user-definable G28 operation. The M3 release coincides with the release of Tormach’s Jog/Shuttle Controller, an MPG-replacement accessory for manual motion control.
The PCNC 1100 CNC machine is a 3-axis unit suitable for short run and prototyping applications. It offers a 1.5 hp spindle and can cut iron, steel, titanium, and a number of chromium alloys.
