Proto Labs Announces Cool Idea! Winner

A grant will be awarded to Hush Technology Inc.

Proto Labs has named Hush Technology Inc. the winner of its Cool Idea! Award. The California-based startup will receive a grant to bring the product market with test samples and additive manufacturing support. Hush is a smart earplug that uses sound-eliminating and noise masking technology to keep out unwanted noise.

The device also uses Bluetooth to connect with a smartphone app that allows users to filter what type of notifications they can receive while wearing the headphones. It can deliver soothing sounds such as white noise, ocean waves and rain drops for up to 10 hours.

“Hush’s ultimate goal is to help people sleep better in the context of others around them, and ultimately enable people to live a better quality of life,” says Daniel Lee of Hush Technology, “The world is only getting noisier, and we aim to provide a way for people to live together harmoniously despite this.”
