SyTech Inc. (Franklin, MA) announced that Siemens' XLReporter was approved as a reporting option for use with the SIMATIC PCS 7 process control system by Siemens Energy & Automation, Inc. (Munich, Germany).

XLReporter provides the key layer of technology that enables reporting in Microsoft Office Excel to be performed automatically and in the background.

SyTech has completed testing of XLReporter for use with PCS 7. Reports can be produced by reading real time process data via the PCS 7 OPC Servers and from process archives via the PCS 7 OPC Historical Data Access (OPC HDA) Servers. The OPC HDA interface provides raw and interpolated samples as well as every available calculation in the OPC HDA specification. Additionally, when alarm and event reports are required, XLReporter interfaces with the PCS 7's OLE DB provider to access data contained in the alarm archives.

With XLReporter's intuitive point-and-click configuration, users can create informative drill-down, summary, and utilization reports. Completed reports are then distributed via Web pages, networked printers, PDF files, and/or e-mail.
