The L.S Starrett Company paid $2.3 million to acquire the assets of Kinemetric Engineering LLC (Laguna Hills, CA).  The acquisition will provide opportunities for Starrett to diversify its customer base and broaden its array of metrology solutions for industry.

Kinemetric Engineering specializes in precision video-based metrology, specialty motion devices, and custom engineered systems for measurement and inspection. It also manufactures high-performance precision coordinate positioning systems. Kinemetric’s product line complements Starrett’s existing products, which include optical measuring projectors and vision systems.   Kinematics is a long-time technical partner of Starrett.  Kinemetric will now team with Starrett to oversee sales and support for the combined product line.

“This acquisition brings new managerial and engineering talent to Starrett and expands our strategic focus to provide custom engineered solutions for industry.  It will enable us to fully engage our sales and distribution network with a broad product offering backed by Starrett and effectively administrated by our new team, said Douglas A. Starrett, president and CEO for Starrett. “We are excited to be able to grow our presence in this dynamic market segment.”
