Manufacturers of tools, fixtures, electrical boxes, recreational vehicles, outdoor tools, and other items could benefit from a new rugged, thermoplastic UV-stable printing material from Stratasys. The ASA (Acrylonitrile Styrene Acrylate) material for the company's FDM-based production 3D printers features UV stability, strength, and durability, according to the company.

The material is compatible with the Fortus 360mc, 400mc and 900mc printers. Parts made from the material can withstand prolonged exposure to direct sunlight without fading or becoming as brittle as those made from traditional ABS.

ASA matches or exceeds the mechanical properties of ABS, and has greater heat resistance. It has a tensile strength of 4,720 psi (XY) and 4,300 psi (Z), and a Z-strength ratio of 91%. You can read more about its performance
