SURFCAM adds Vista, SolidWorks Support

By Sara Ferris

Surfware (Westlake Village, CA)  released v3.0 SP of its SURFCAM Velocity CAM software. The new version supports the Windows Vista operating system and SolidWorks 2008. A major component of Windows Vista compatibility is SURFCAM’s use of DirectX graphics technology. SURFCAM also features an associative link to SolidWorks 2008 parts and assemblies. The link dynamically monitors engineering changes and automatically updates all necessary SURFCAM toolpath operations. Other improvements include faster geometry selection, which the company says is particularly noticeable when using the MultSelOn mode to select a large number of elements, including point-cloud data and complex surface parts. Planar and Z-finish toolpath operations now process faster when using containment boundaries. SCPRT files load faster, and the display of grid points has been improved.
