Tableau Software(Seattle, WA) has launched Tableau V2.0, data analysis softwaredesigned for information workers in all job functions and industries.According to a press release, Tableau V2.0 enables people to summarizeand explore data with an intuitive interface that generates crispvisual displays.

Tableau v2.0 has added a suite of new features that make the access andanalysis of large data sets simple to complete without technicaltraining or the need for IT support. For example, it is now easier tojoin data from multiple database tables. Version 2.0 also makes itconvenient to extract data from a large data warehouse for sampling andanalysis. For the mobile user, version 2.0 enables offline analysis andone-click reconnection to the master data.

Tableau v2.0 delivers new tools called Tableau Dynamic Calculations forcreating custom aggregations, computed fields, totals, and subtotals.In addition, the product helps people define "on the fly" visualsummaries that address the tricky quantitative problems involvingrunning totals, moving averages, CAGR, and percentage change. AllDynamic Calculations are created using an intuitive drag and drop userinterface and don't require any knowledge of formulas or the use ofscripts. Other features include tools and capabilities for exploratorymodeling, dynamic data inspection, and data playback and paging.
