Type A Machines Integrates Autodesk Meshmixer, Releases New Extruder

The software enables direct 3D printing for highly-customizable designs.

3D printer designer and manufacturer Type A Machines has announced the availability of Autodesk Meshmixer, bringing the ability of direct 3D printing to users.

Meshmixer is a free 3D modeling tool that allows mashing, mixing, sculpting, stamping and painting of 3D designs. It is integrated into Type A’s 2014 Series 1 printer and makes it easier to translate a design directly into a product, the company states.

Type A is also releasing a new all-metal extruder with the 2014 Series 1, providing expanded functionality. This extruder eliminates clogs, allows for higher printing temperatures and uses a wide range of polymers.

“This level of functionality is a first in our industry and makes the Series 1 3D Printer the obvious choice for professionals using Autodesk software,” said Espen Sivertsen, CEO. “Teaming up with Autodesk brings the advantages of our extensible approach to both hardware and software to more professionals, makers and educators than ever.”
