Femap Version9 is the latest PLM (product lifecycle management) solution available from UGS (Plano, TX).Femap is a Windows-based desktop softwaresolution for advanced FEA (finite element analysis).

Femap Version 9's major enhancements include a new GUI designed to helpusers more quickly navigate andaccess commands and functionality and help streamline finite elementmodeling, analysis and post-processing routines. Current Femap userscan continue to work with the "classic" Femap user interface, or canuse one of the many new user interface features such as customizable, floating dockable toolbars, a Model Information Tree that providesdirect access to higher level entities, as well as an Entity Editorthatenables direct review and editing of Femap model data. Users can alsocopy and paste data into other Windows applications withcomplete retention of formatting.

Finite element modeling performance has been enhancedthrough updates to finite element meshing algorithms includingautomatic grouping and removal of "sliver surfaces" that often lead totedious manual clean-up of imported CAD geometry, says the company.

Femap Version 9continues to support tight integration with the latest versions of popular structuraland thermal solvers such as NX Nastran,MSC.Nastran, ANSYS, ABAQUS, LS-DYNA, TMG, Sinda-G, TRASYS and manyothers.

Nastran analysis efficiency - Femap Version 9 supports the directreading of results from the Nastran XDB file as well as the recentlyannounced NX Nastran Version 3.
