ViewSonic Corp. (Walnut, CA) recently introduced three additions to its VA Series of LCD monitors at the National Education Computing Conference (NECC) in Atlanta.

The new monitors include the 19-in. VA916, which is a traditional 4:3 display, while the 17-in. VA1716w and the 19-in. VA1916w are both widescreen displays that bring panoramic viewing for multiple documents and HD video content to the desktop. The dramatic increase in viewing area on the widescreens allows users to navigate between multiple windows and applications with greater ease.

All three displays are Windows Vista Basic Certified and incorporate a textured cabinet with thin-bezel design and a clean cable management system.

The ViewSonic VA1716w has 250 nits of brightness, 1440 X 900 native resolution, 500:1 contrast ratio. With a street price of $209, the ViewSonic VA1716w display is an economical widescreen LCD.

The VA1916w, which will begin shipping in August, will offer a 1440 X 900 native resolution and 2000:1 dynamic contrast ratio for crisp text and bright images. This, combined with the widescreen aspect ratio, is aimed at desktop entertainment and business applications. The estimated street price is $229.

The 19-in. ViewSonic VA916 features a 4:3 aspect ratio, 2000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, and 1280 X 1024 native resolution for bright and rich colors. The VA916 will be available in August for $239.
