CAD data is more easily accessible to both technical and non-technical users accordingto Actify Inc. (San Francisco, CA; actify.com).The company has released SpinFire Professional 2004 Version 2, whichadds 2D CAD visualization capabilities to its 3D CAD visualizationabilities.

SpinFire, says Actify, is aimed at improving decision making andinnovation by taking full advantage of the knowledge and experience ofthose members of a manufacturer’s staff who do not have access to CADsystems. SpinFire enables access, communication, and distribution ofmultiple CAD and other file formats throughout an enterprise. With it,high technology companies, such as automotive, industrial automation,and discrete manufacturing, can cut costs and improve productivity.

SpinFire Professional 2004v2 supports files created in any major CADfile format, converting them into its unique .3D format. It allows forsecure viewing, measuring, mark-up, and sharing of all major 2D and 3Ddata formats without needing to purchase and maintain additional seatsof a native CAD system.

SpinFire Professional 2004v2 also has the ability to organize multipledocuments—3D and 2D CAD, PDF, Microsoft Office, TIFF, and GIF, forexample—in one compact file that can be distributed throughout theenterprise or supply chain. Additionally, SpinFire Professional 2004v2protects intellectual property because it does not distribute originalfiles.
