AVEVA announced that it has upgraded its 3D plant design software product, AVEVA PDMS, with new piping capabilities.

"These enhancements demonstrate a key part of our strategy to continuously develop PDMS while also offering customers our next generation design solution, AVEVA Everything3D. The focus for this release is piping improvements and enhanced integration," said Bruce Douglas, senior vice president at AVEVA.

According to the company, new functionality within the piping discipline increases the productivity of detailed design and documentation for all kinds of tapping, boss and similar connections. The piping discipline also benefits from new pipe fabrication capabilities, which extend the scope of PDMS into the fabrication process.

Improvements to AVEVA Schematic 3D Integrator make it easier to build from, compare against, and work between P&IDs and 3D pipe design within PDMS. Integration with mechanical CAD systems improves performance for PDMS models containing imported mechanical equipment. Integration between PDMS and AVEVA Bocad Steel makes it faster and easier to integrate structural design and fabrication, the company says.

PDMS is also now supported as Citrix Ready.
