CCE announced the availability of Express 3D, a free multi-CAD viewer that supports viewing of all major 3D CAD systems without the need for a license of the CAD system. Express 3D supported file formats include CATIA V4, CATIA V5, CATIA V6 (.3dxml), NX, SolidWorks, Pro/ENGINEER (Creo), Inventor, Solid Edge, JT, Parasolid, STL, VDA, IGES and STEP.

"Everyone talks of democratizing CAD data within the enterprise and across the supply chain, but then it all comes with a price tag," said CCE's vice president of sales and marketing, Vinay Wagle. "Express 3D is the latest addition to a list of free software on our Labs portal. Our free software tools on Labs, allow everyone to leverage multi-CAD data at absolutely zero cost."

Express 3D viewers display the data as represented in the CAD file. Geometry views include the entity tree, assemblies with product structure, colors, reference entities and annotations.

The viewers also have options to display standard views, manipulate camera operations, shade modes and more.

Available advanced tools help users perform accurate measurements, compute mass properties, study cross-section details, view product information, access parent-child relationships, and collaborate using markup and redlining.
