Siemens PLM Software has been recognized by PLM management consulting and research firm CIMdata as the market presence leader in the collaborative Product Definition management (cPDm)  category for the 11th year in a row. CIMdata also ranked Siemens PLM Software as the market leader in the Digital Manufacturing market segment for the seventh straight year.

Siemens PLM Software addresses the cPDm category with its Teamcenter portfolio for digital lifecycle management. The company’s Tecnomatix product is used in the digital manufacturing segment. CIMdatas findings are based on in-depth data and analysis of the PLM market and were announced by CIMdata in late March. They will also be detailed in their upcoming 2011 PLM Market Analysis Report.

Our research shows that cPDm growth exceeded historic rates and will continue to expand at double digit growth rates for years to come. Siemens PLM Software continues to set the pace in this critical market segment, said Peter Bilello, president of CIMdata. Siemens PLM Software also continues to lead in Digital Manufacturing, with significantly more revenue than the next ranked provider, according to our research. To help future growth, Siemens PLM is taking steps to better leverage knowledge from across Siemens AG, one of the benefits of being part of a large global industrial company. With their increasing industry focus, the other industrial products business units within Siemens AG could provide some useful knowledge and candidates for PLM solution development and trials.

According to CIMdatas forecast, the cPDm market segment will experience a double digit, five-year compound annual growth rate (CAGR)  of 11.5 percent, resulting in a projected cPDm market size of approximately $17 billion by 2016, based on total software and services investments. CIMdatas forecast for Digital Manufacturing is estimated to remain steady with a five-year CAGR of seven percent. Overall,  CIMdata reports that mainstream PLM is forecasted to grow at a five-year CAGR of over ten percent and continues to see growth as a key enterprise investment.
