Corel, Lattice Form Partnership

Corel and Lattice Technology announced a strategic partnership to improve the documentation workflow for technical illustrators. This partnership allows Corel to access 3D XVL data models directly in Corel's recently introduced CorelDRAW Technical Suite X6. XVL is the enabling technology provided by Lattice Technology, a provider of technical communication and digital mock up software.

The XVL technology allows illustrators to work with 3D data created by CAD engineers, giving users more detailed information (such as 3D measurement tools, advanced disassembly creation and 3D animation capabilities) for their technical drawings.

3D CAD model data is converted into Lattice Technology's XVL data format. XVL was developed to enable interactive 3D design data to be shared across the entire design workflow and extended enterprise, such as engineering, operations, manufacturing, quality and service, the company says.

"Partnering with Lattice allows us to provide CorelDRAW Technical Suite X6 users with unique precision tools that offer more latitude and efficiency when working with 3D models," said Gerard Metrailler, senior director, product management, graphics at Corel.
