Dassault Systems has acquired Safe Technology. According to Dassault, the acquisition of Safe, based in Sheffield, UK, expands its 3DEXPERIENCE platform and its realistic simulation applications (SIMULIA). Safe has more than 500 customers, including General Motors, Caterpillar, Cummins, Emerson Climate Technologies, Honda Jets, Harley Davidson Motor Company and Hyundai Motors. The amount of the transaction was not disclosed.

"Consumers want a product that is built right. They want a product that lasts. Durability deeply affects the emotional attachment between brands and their users. The 3DEXPERIENCE platform is all about building brand loyalty for a company's business and the products it offers. This is why Safe Technology is such a good fit for Dassault," said Bernard Charles, president and CEO, Dassault Systems. "Advanced fatigue and durability software solutions are an essential part of the product design process. Safe Technology will enhance ]our] SIMULIA structural simulation to predict and analyze product life quickly and accurately."

Dassault entered into a definitive acquisition agreement with Safe Technology, whereby Dassault acquired the company in an all-cash transaction completed on Aug. 7, 2013.
