Dassault Systèmes Acquires German Subsidiary of Modelon

The company is a provider of systems-based modeling software.

Dassault Systèmes, a provider of design and digital mockup software, has acquired Modelon GmbH. This entity, according to the company, is a distributor of ready-to-experience content for systems modeling and simulation. With this acquisition, Dassault plans to expand its content portfolio.

The subsidiary’s parent company, Modelon AB, produces multiphysics content that enables users to set up a workflow to produce a functional mockup for electric vehicles. The portfolio has capability for simulating electronic power storage, electronic power distribution and more. It helps users gain a unified picture of complex product subsystem interaction and performance, the company states. This transaction places Dassault Systèmes as a value-added reseller and Modelica content partner.

“Since 2009, our industry-proven content implements the latest advances in Modelica tools and standards and, as a result, has enabled major industry milestones,” said Johannes Gerl, CEO, Modelon GmbH. “As part of Dassault Systèmes, we can expand the reach and impact of our assets to inspire electrified and ecologic product development that will be emblematic of the bright future of experience-based systems engineering.”

Editor’s Note: According to a Modelon press statement, a subsidiary was sold to Dassault Systèmes, not the full company. The language has been updated to reflect this information.
