Datakit announced that the recently released beta version of Onshape employs Datakit technology for 3D CAD interoperability. Onshape has licensed Datakit's technology to facilitate import and export of a broad range of 3D formats.

The Onshape platform works as a Web browser-based CAD application. This use of Datakit helps designers effectively translate between Onshape and traditional CAD platform, the company states.

“Effective translation of 3D data into and out of Onshape allows us to work efficiently with existing CAD users as they transition to Onshape,” says Dave Corcoran, vice president of Research and Development at Onshape. “Datakit technology and technical support has enabled us to provide robust translation of 3D data as an integrated part of the Onshape experience.”
