Editor's Pick: Lenovo ThinkStation S20 Is a Worthy Successor

Dear Desktop Engineering Reader:

Did you get a chance to read David Cohn's review of the Lenovo ThinkStation S20? As usual, David does a bang-up job of taking a workstation for a ride to see what that baby can do. David's conclusion? “The ThinkStation S20 joins its predecessor as an absolutely perfect midrange CAD workstation.”

David Cohn is not one for hyperbole. He does not use words like “perfect” unless he means it. The problem is, what does that leave me to say about Lenovo's flagship desktop system?

I mean really, David already tells you that the ThinkStation S20 is well engineered for users of graphically and computationally intensive applications like CAD, CAM, and CAE. He tells you why its Xeon processors and NVIDIA Quadro and ATI FirePro graphics are important for you. He even talks about how the ThinkStation S20 uses 50 percent recycled plastic, meets Energy Star 5.0 criteria, and is certified for GREENGUARD. And he tells you that the ThinkStation S20 is virtually silent after its initial startup. In other words, I'm stumped. He didn't leave me much. OK, he forgot to mention it's RoHS-compliant.

Then I saw it. David spoke of how the ThinkStation S20 turned in stunning results the Autodesk and  SolidWorks benchmark tests he put it through. But what he didn't tell you is that the ThinkStation S20 is certified for such applications as 3DS Max, AutoCAD, CATIA, Inventor, Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire, and SolidWorks. He didn't tell you that Lenovo has a quick video that shows you in two minutes what the ThinkStation S20 can do for you. Nor did he give you a link to where you can customize the ThinkStation S20 for your own purposes.

So, that's what I can tell you. Hit the link and read David Cohn's review of the ThinkStation S20. Look for the Editor's Pick of the Week sidebar. Click on any and all links to find more details on the ThinkStation S20, including the video I mentioned as well as details on graphics solutions, hardware and software certifications, and configuration options. I think you'll agree with David. The ThinkStation S20 is an awesome engineering workstation.
