ENCY 2.5 has been released by ENCY Software. The update includes 130 changes focused on smoother workflows and increase stability, the company says.

Updates include:

Faster visual feedback for painting simulation:

Painting simulation: Faster visual feedback

  • The part now renders directly during painting simulation, so you can see what’s painted and what isn’t without toggling part visibility.
  • By default, the simulation shows which areas of the model will be painted (no paint-film thickness gradient). To evaluate thickness, enable “Verify compare” and set a color gradient against a reference.

Automatic face selection: Two one-click helpers

Automatic face selection: Two one-click helpers

With a closed contour pre-selected, right-click a face on that contour to access:

  • Enclosed faces.” Selects all faces inside the closed contour (e.g., the faces of a profile pocket).
  • Outer adjacent faces.” Selects faces adjacent to the closed contour edges (e.g., edge fillets around the contour).T

These options cut multi-face picking down to a single action and reduce selection errors on complex pockets and blends.

Swarf: Automatic axial-pass calculation

In Axial passes, users can now choose to calculate the toolpath by step size or by pass count. ENCY distributes passes automatically and keeps spacing uniform over the 3D model, improving finish consistency while preserving control over cycle time.

Usability & Workflow Improvements

  • Hints: refreshed for Pencil, Swarf, Non-planar Slicing, and Threading (OD/ID) operations.
  • CLD: added Number of starts for the G92 threading cycle.
  • Downloads: the page now always includes links to offline installers.
  • Hole Machining: updated hole template dialog and parameter list.
  • API: command set updated.
  • Selection: improved algorithm for Ctrl+Shift selection behavior.
  • 3D model import: improved parallel import pipeline.

Stability & Fixes

ENCY strengthened reliability across project save/open, autosave recovery, and PLM integration — including edge cases with network paths and re-opening recent projects. Simulation is more robust by eliminating false collision reports in certain scenarios. Post-processing is steadier with fixes in the postprocessor generator and bundled (stock) postprocessors, and NC program generation no longer stalls. Platform & UI refinements deliver clearer visuals and smoother list scrolling, with corrections in STEP export, spline geometry, spatial transformations, machining result to 3D model comparison, and targeted fixes in SwarfHole Machining, part-geometry selection in multi-part projects, ENCY Tuner 2, and the updater.

Note: The 2.5 update is available to all users with an active software maintenance contract (SMC).
