Working metal and plastic laser-sintering systems, plus new metal and plastic materials, will be on display at the EOS booth at this year’s EuroMold in Frankfurt.

“At EuroMold, EOS’ introduction of an enhanced system for direct metal laser-sintering (DMLS) sets new standards in terms of part quality and repeatability, while providing a higher cost efficiency and improved usability,” says Peter Klink, executive vice president Global Sales at EOS.

The most recently developed metal material, EOS NickelAlloy IN625, is particularly useful in the aerospace industry, according to EOS.

“We are using IN625 with DMLS to build complex aerospace parts for high-temperature and high-strength applications,” says Greg Morris, CEO of Morris Technologies. “The process achieves material properties that are comparable to wrought metals and far exceed casting. For prototyping projects, DMLS saves our customers weeks and often thousands of dollars compared with traditional methodologies.”

EOS is also introducing two new plastic materials: PrimePart FR (PA 2241 FR)—a non-flammable material also geared especially to aerospace—and PrimePart ST (PEBA 2301), a flexible plastic.

Since they were introduced at EuroMold 2009, EOS’ Part Property Profiles (PPP) for standardization and quality control of plastics have been successfully deployed in production. This year PPPs are available for the metal sector.
