EskoArtwork (Gent, Belgium) introduced ArtiosCAD 7.3, structural design software for packaging with easier design features, realistic views of packaging against backgrounds, and support for new operating systems and applications, according to the release.

Designed for packaging professionals in structural design, product development, virtual prototyping and manufacturing — and offering integration capabilities with product design packages such as SolidWorks — ArtiosCAD increases productivity throughout the packaging supply chain, the company claims.

ArtiosCAD is for all corrugated, folding cartons, and POP displays. Its design and drafting tools include functions for structural designers to work accurately and efficiently. Complete 3D integration allows for quick prototyping of designs and presentations, eliminating communication errors and reducing design review cycles.

In addition to Realistic Background Image and a Rubber Design & Layout Module, ArtiosCAD, when combined with a Kongsberg table, enables designs to be sent to the cutting table to automatically create the cutting profiles — using a dry process.

As an open system, ArtiosCAD 7.3 supports the U3D universal standard for 3D data, exporting the ArtiosCAD A3D format to the new U3D format and exporting data to a PDF file with an embedded U3D model. In addition to Microsoft Windows Vista, Windows XP64, and SQL Server 2005 and SQL Server 2005 Express support, ArtiosCAD 7.3 will now run on Macintosh computers driving Windows OSes within the Parallels desktop.
