Fuel3D, a developer of 3D scanning solutions, has released SCANIFY. The system is a hand-held, point-and-shoot 3D scanner for consumer and professional applications.

The SCANIFY is ideal for a variety of applications, such as 3D printing and personalization, art and animation. It comes with Fuel3D Studio software, which allows users to manipulate scans and export a variety of file formats. It can capture detail down to 350 microns.

According to the company, the SCANIFY offers the following features:

  • Speed: The rapid speed of capture allows the scanner to gather data for subjects that may move during scanning.
  • Ease of Use: The SCANIFY mimics intuitive point-and-shoot technology of digital cameras.
  • Affordability: This scanner is available for $1,490, one-tenth the cost of professional hand-held scanning systems.
“When we set out to create SCANIFY, our goal was to democratize the 3D movement for consumers and, in particular, to allow for the personalization of their creations,” said Stuart Mead, CEO, Fuel3D. “SCANIFY allows consumers to transform highly-complex subjects – such as the human face – into high-detail, full-color 3D scans as quickly as they could take a photo using a digital camera.”
