HP (Palo Alto, CA) announced a comprehensive set of service-oriented architecture (SOA) governance software and services to help companies accelerate SOA adoption and drive increased business value while reducing potential risks, such as service disruption to the business.

HP also announced the expansion of its Governance Interoperability Framework (GIF), one of the industry's first and most broadly adopted industry specifications for SOA governance interoperability. The framework deepens HP's support for heterogeneous customer environments. New HP SOA Services include new HP Validation and Implementation Services for SOA Governance, Performance and Quality; plus, new services to install and configure HP SOA Systinet and HP SOA Manager enable a quicker return on a customer's software investment. Go to the HP SOA portfolio for more information.

Earlier HP announced a software governance initiative to help companies address the legal, financial and security risks faced when adopting free and open source software (FOSS). Underlying this community-based initiative is a major contribution from HP's research and development efforts to help effectively manage open source as part of an overall enterprise IT plan. Plus, the company introduced the HP Open Source Health Check to extend and complement the content available from FOSSBazaar. The HP Open Source Health Check complements HP's rich portfolio of FOSS-related services, which help customers to take advantage of the benefits of FOSS in their IT environments.
