Intergraph Corporation (Huntsville, AL), a provider of spatial information management (SIM) software, announced it had acquired Alias Ltd. (Manchester, England), a provider of piping design automation software.

Alias' flagship product, ISOGEN, provides automatic piping isometricdrawing generation capability to 3D plant design and shipbuildingsoftware users. In addition, Alias' products, I-Sketch for theindividual generation of isometrics and SPOOLGEN for the generation offabrication spool drawings, are said to be leading solutions in their domains.I-Route, a new product, provides the ability to automatically routepipes within a 3D model based on cost optimization techniques. Aliashas been an Intergraph OEM partner since 1993.
