Laser Design to Distribute New Line of Portable CMMs

By DE Editors

December 26, 2014

Laser Design Inc. is expanding the distribution of Tomelleri Engineering's line of Space Arm CMMs (coordinate measuring machines). The Space Arm line has four product families: the economical model, the Space Plus model, the Space Micron Model and the large-scale Space Explorer model. The company plans to have regional resellers offer the Space Arm.

Each model includes:

  • CMS Software
  • USB driver kit, power supply and cable
  • Automatic temperature compensation system
  • Automatic probe recognition with high repeatability probe mount
  • Calibration sphere
  • IP54 protection degree
Optional features include a variety of probe choices, a variety of laser tube forks and specialized software for pipe measurements. Users can also equip their arms with a Wi-Fi module, various tripods and a Lithium Ion battery pack.

"The articulated arm is one of the most popular measuring instruments in the world.  Within North America, most of these arms are sold directly by the large companies that manufacture them which means that independent resellers can’t easily participate in this large market segment. We plan to recruit resellers in different regions of North America that have strong backgrounds in metrology and reverse engineering and prior experience with similar articulated arms,” said C. Martin Schuster, founder and CEO, Laser Design Inc.
