Suzhou Gstarsofthas announced the release of a new and improved version of GstarCAD. The product can be used for developing industrial or business-specific CAD applications using CAD application programming interfaces (APIs), including GRX, VBA, Vlisp, SDS, Autolisp. It features an object-oriented development environment and C++ APIs that facilitates interaction with external systems and customization.

An API with improved GRX (GstarCAD Runtime eXtension) is one of the enhancements of GstarCAD 2011. A single code base supporting both GstarCAD and AutoCAD improves GstarCAD/AutoCAD compatibility and allows users to work with familiar programming languages, according to the company. More than 360 Lisp/VLisp functions, VBA support and several integrated editors with code highlighting are also included. Further unification of GRX API allows users to port advanced ARX applications developed on AutoCAD into GstarCAD.

One example of successful AutoCAD/GstarCAD porting is CADprofi, a parametric CAD application that facilitates design operations. With more than 150,000 lines of code, it is one of the largest ports to date using GRX and a number of GRX extensions.
