At SIGGRAPH 2014, Lenovo has launched of the Thinkstation P Series, ideal for professionals in engineering, architecture, medical and science, entertainment and other industries. The series includes the P900, P700, P500 and P300.

For performance, the P Series is outfitted with Intel Xeon processors, NVIDIA Quadro graphics, high capacity DDR4 memory, ISV-certified software and support for up to three K6000 graphic cards and 14 storage devices.

This series also offers expanded flexibility through customizations and unique configurations. Some include:

  • The FLEX Bay can support an optical drive or an ultraslim optical drive, media card reader or FireWire.
  • The FLEX Tray is built for newly designed HDD trays for both 2.5 inch and 3.5 inch drives. With the P900, users can add as many as 14 drives.
  • The FLEX Connector increases functionality without sacrificing rear PCIe slots using a mezzanine card that connects to the motherboard.
Ease of Use upgrades have also been incorporated. These include tool-less upgrades, integrated handles, QR codes and red touch points. There is also a diagnostic port, which allows users to plug in an Android-based tablet or smartphone to a USB port for system analysis via the ThinkStation app.

“After a period of intensive research, development and testing, we’re excited to introduce our next generation workstations to the market, as we truly believe this is the best designed workstation ever,” said Victor Rios, vice president and general manager, Workstations, Lenovo. “We built on the advancements delivered in our 30 Series workstations and engineered the P Series with new levels of innovation based on extensive customer feedback."
