Next Limit Technologies (Madrid, Spain) updated its rendering software, Maxwell Render version 1.7, which offers several improved features including a Physical Sky system with several real-life, physically accurate parameters, and a new Sub-Surface Scattering component that simulates the effect of light entering a translucent object and scattering inside it.

Enhancements in the Material Editor are incremental updates in the material preview, storing material swatches, new image controls, wizards, and more. Plug-in enhancements for all available plug-ins have been updated to ensure full compatibility with version 1.7, and have bugs fixed.

Improvements in Maxwell Studio include texture handling and memory optimizations, Realtime OpenGL preview of Physical Sky, an improved material browser, and more.

Maxwell Render 1.7 and the updated plug-ins are available for download from the customer download area. All Maxwell Render customers will receive an e-mail with the new link. A complete overview is available from Next Limit Technologies.
