Moldflow Corporation(Framingham, MA) today announced the availability of MoldflowCommunicator 1.0, free software designed so distributed product teamscan visualize, quantify, and compare Moldflow analysis results. Unlikestatic 3D viewers, Moldflow Communicator helps users understand theassumptions behind a given set of analysis results, a vital aspect togaining the insight required to make critical design decisions.

As Moldflow sees it, one of the greatest challenges faced by CAEcompanies is ensuring users properly communicate analysis results andassociated assumptions to members of geographically distributed productdevelopment teams. Design optimization work completed at the beginningof the design-to-manufacturing process is not used due to poorcommunication between team members. Furthermore, in many cases thelevel of experience of analysts is dropping, exposing the need fortools that improve validation and communication of results.

Moldflow Communicator lets users share the insight gained fromanalysis-driven design optimization to any member of a productdevelopment team, many of whom are not dedicated Moldflow users.Extended team members can now view results dynamically andinteractively on 3D models and use a set of powerful tools to compareanalysis results side by side from two iterations to better understanddesign improvements. One of the program's most compelling benefits isthe ability to understand the assumptions behind a given set ofanalysis results, which can help team members make informed decisionsto reduce development times, improve part quality, and speed time tomarket.

Companies that either outsource or rely on their vendors or suppliersto perform analysis can now quantify the quality of analyses performed. This is achieved through user-specified analysis quality criteria.

Moldflow Communicator 1.0 is free to both Moldflow customers andnon-customers. It supports analysis results exported from MoldflowPlastics Insight 6.0 and runs on 32- and 64-bit hardware runningWindows. Future versions will extend the support to include resultsfrom other Moldflow products, including Moldflow Plastics Advisers. Formore information, please visit moldflow.com.
