New SolidWorks Mechanical Conceptual also unveiled.

Dassault Systemes has introduced My.SolidWorks, which the company says is intended to help pull together popular SolidWorks related content for users. Customers will be able to search for answers across multiple platforms, while receiving results in a single view.

The free solution includes content from the SolidWorks forums, SolidWorks corporate blog, SolidWorks Teacher Blog, SolidWorks Twitter Feed, SolidWorks YouTube channel, and SolidWorks Online Help. Access to the Knowledge Base will be available soon to subscription customers, as well as access to 3D ContentCentral. The full version is expected to launch this spring.

The company also introduced SolidWorks Mechanical Conceptual, a tool for conceptual mechanical design that is complementary to other SolidWorks products, the company says. According to the company it allows users to capture ideas digitally, quickly create 3D concept models, get feedback from internal and external stakeholders, and manage multiple concepts before committing engineering time to build.

The solution merges the benefits of history, parametrics, and direct editing into a single interface. The Single Modeling Environment allows users to evolve from layout sketches to 3D geometry, to separate parts and assemblies, without taking product structure into consideration. Users can also automatically apply previous intent to new designs.

The solution has social innovation capabilities built in; at any point, the designer can engage stakeholders by posting concepts to their private communities, the company says. Stakeholders are notified that there is a concept to review and can provide feedback.
