National Instruments Hosts Engineering Impact Awards

At its annual NIWeek Conference, National Instruments announced its 2015 Engineering Impact Awards. The honor was given to 15 total applications from engineers, scientists and researchers from around the world. The categories for these innovations spanned advanced research to transportation. Each entry addressed critical engineering and science challenges.

The ceremony also included awards for Innovations in STEM, Engineering Grand Challenges and the Internet of Things.

Application of the Year was given to Jayaraj Joseph from the Healthcare Technology Innovation Centre for his paper on ARTSENS, a technology for arterial stiffness evaluation and vascular screening. The device is based on LabVIEW, NI Single-Board RIO and PXI.

  Developing Earth-Observation Cameras Attached to the International Space Station for Streaming Live High-Definition Footage Across the Internet, Engineering Grand Challenges Award recipient

• Category: Consumer Electronics Test

  High-Performance RF and Functional Test of Automotive Infotainment and eCall Modules

• Category: Energy

  Controlling Zinc-flow Batteries and Switch-Mode Power Regulation for Megawatt-scale Energy Storage, NI Community’s Choice Award recipient

• Category: RF and Communications

  Tracking WiFi Signals to Passively See Through Walls Using NI USRP and LabVIEW

• Category: Transportation

  Replacing Diesel with Hybrid Power in Buses

• Category: Global Student Design Showcase

  Scalevo: The Stair Climbing Wheelchair

The company also recognized Stephen Turnipseed from LEGO Education with the Innovations in STEM award.
