Recently installed in ProtoCAM’s (Northampton, PA) SLA-3500, is its Somos ProtoGen O-XT 18420 resin, a general-purpose white resin that has ABS-like mechanical properties offering superior chemical resistance and dimensional accuracy. Features of the resin include its high temperature capabilities (208 degrees F) and ability to produce humidity tolerant durable parts.

ProtoCAM also recently installed Somos Water Clear Ultra 10122 in their two Viper SI SLAs. An optically clear, colorless and rigid resin, Somos Water Clear Ultra 10122 also has ABS-like properties and produces accurate parts that simulate acrylic in appearance. This resin produces transparent parts right out of the SLA machine, and is ideal for applications requiring optical clarity such as lenses, bottles, and light pipes. To obtain true optical clarity however, postprocessing is required.
