National Instruments (NI;  Austin, TX) announced the PXI-8104 and PXI-8183 low-cost embedded controllers designed for value-based test, measurement, and control applications. With these new controllers, engineers and scientists can apply PXI in a variety of new applications across industries including consumer electronics, automotive,  semiconductor, telecommunications, and aerospace and defense.

The NI PXI-8104 is an Intel Celeron M 440 processor-based embedded controller for use in PXI and CompactPCI systems that offers 41 percent performance improvement compared to its predecessor (the NI PXI-8195 controller).

The NI PXI-8183, the company’s lowest-cost ($1,500)  Windows-based PXI embedded controller, is suited for high-volume OEM and industrial control applications, as well as a compact platform when combined with a PXI-compatible chassis, such as the NI PXI-1036.

NI also announced support for new Tektronix value line oscilloscopes in the latest version of LabVIEW SignalExpress Tektronix Edition,  an interactive PC-based measurement software for quickly acquiring, analyzing,  and presenting data without programming. Engineers and scientists can use LabVIEW SignalExpress Tektronix Edition 2.5 to connect to and control all value-line Tektronix oscilloscopes including the new Tektronix DPO3000 and TDS3000C digital phosphor oscilloscopes as well as the MSO4000 mixed-signal oscilloscopes from their PCs with an easy-to-use, drag-and-drop environment.

This version of the software introduces time-saving features such as measurement and waveform logging and new interactive reporting capabilities. Also, LabVIEW SignalExpress Tektronix Edition introduces measurement and waveform logging capabilities so users can record their measurements directly to their PCs, automating a time-consuming task. This updated version also provides new interactive reporting features such as a drag-and-drop report that displays live data as well as the ability for users to save and print their reports as HTML pages.
