nPower Software(San Diego, CA) is now distributing a new solution for importing largeCAD models and assemblies into Autodesk 3ds max and Viz called PowerTranslators Pro. nPower says the software represents an improvement inproductivity for professional design visualization engineers who needto accurately and efficiently render lots of large, complex CADmodels.

Power Translators Pro includes a one-year subscription to the Power Netnetwork management tool that can distribute tasks across multipleprocesses on your local machine and also across the satellite machineson your network. A press release from nPower says the program maximizesthe design visualization throughput by leveraging distributed computingpower and network optimization. Power Translators Pro is optimized forthe large models and large volumes of data typical of the CAD industry.

According to nPower, complex data translation processing that used totake days or weeks can now be done in a matter of hours whilemaintaining high quality surface definitions. It does this byleveraging the CAD geometric modeling kernel SOLIDS++ that has beenintegrated into Autodesk 3ds max and Viz. It also contains all thenecessary tools to clean up, prepare, and render large and complex CADmodels.

The Power Translators plug-in extension's new features include networktranslation on render farm or satellite nodes; multiprocessor meshgeneration; surface repair and reconstruction; powerful faceflipping/visibility tools; translation of Parasolid and SolidWorksfiles; and optional native translation of UG and CATIA files.

According to nPower, the inclusion of Power Net means users with manymodels or large models and assemblies can avoid the bottlenecks createdby rendering and data translation. Power Translators Pro will takeadvantage of the maximum processing power available and optimizes thetranslation process by distributing the workload across the network.Power Net leaves your personal workstation free to perform interactivemodeling tasks. Instead of translating models one by one, says nPower,Power Translators Pro allows users to batch process a large group (upto 8,000 models) of model files simultaneously. Price: $1,995 (includes a free 1-year subscription to Power Net).
