Open Mind Technologies has updated its CAD system, hyperCAD-S, which works with its hyperMILL CAM solution.

According to the company, hyperCAD-S has been redeveloped from scratch, with the architecture, core, graphics, database, user interface and API all being new software designs. The new system is integrated more closely with CAM-specific tasks than hyperCAD. Curves and free-form surfaces are depicted using Bezier and NURBS geometries. As well as all the standard basic design elements, the core also provides a number of elements that specifically aid CAM programmers, including tool paths, polygon networks, point clouds and a rectangle element.

"Our user interface for hyperCAD-S is modern and user-friendly, and we made sure to accommodate all the latest ergonomic considerations," said Wolfgang Weiss, product manager.

The first version of hyperCAD-S will run in 64-bit and offer a broader range of functions than the hyperCAD Geometric Engine. "There are significant differences," said Weiss. "The structure for Selection and Visibility has been implemented completely new due to customer requirements."
