Radiant Zemax released Zemax 13, the latest version of its software for optical and illumination design.

The LightningTrace feature is significantly faster than conventional luminaire prototyping tools and ray tracing, the company says. It works with the Visual Optimizer to let users see illumination patterns change in real time as the system is modified.

The CAD Manager reads native part and assembly files directly in the Zemax 13 environment to dynamically modify Creo Parametric (Pro/E), SolidWorks and Autodesk Inventor 2013. CAD Manager eliminates export, import and file translation errors.

The Roadway Lighting Designer verifies compliance of roadway lighting systems to the CIE 140-2000 "Roadway Lighting" specification. For roadway lighting systems that do not meet specification, Zemax automatically generates the merit function to optimize luminaire output.

Zemax 13 is available in IE, EE and SE editions, allowing users to purchase the feature set that best matches their needs, the company says. It runs on Windows PCs with 32-bit or 64-bit architecture.
